Perishable Donations

The Calgary Food Bank would like to acknowledge the following Food Industry companies that gave 400,000 pounds or more last year to hungry Calgarians in need.

The Calgary Food Bank has a 19,494 cubic foot fridge/freezer unit (one of the largest freestanding fridge/freezer units in Calgary) that facilitates the distribution of perishable items to our clients. The fridge/freezer is the same as 1,392 house-size refrigerators!

The Calgary Food Bank gratefully accepts the following:

  • Any frozen food, including meat, still in its original store packaging
  • Fresh vegetables and fruit
  • Livestock, wild game and fish (packaged and labelled at a recognized government inspected facility only)

Non-Perishable Donations

  • any canned or boxed foods (due to our commitment to provide our clients with quality food we cannot accept food that is out-dated)
  • baby formula, baby food and diapers
  • toiletries
  • paper products
  • pet food

How to Donate

  • Warehouse – drop off your donation at 5000 11 St SE, Door #3 [map]
               Monday – Thursday 8am - 8pm or Friday 8am – 4pm
  • Grocery Store – place your items in the Food Bank donation bin at any Co-Op, Safeway, Sobeys or Superstore in Calgary.  Our drivers collect the donations regularly.
  • Pick-Up - Arrange for one of our volunteers to pick up your donation

The following are the staples of our hampers. When we do not have enough of these items donated we purchase these items. The average cost of an Emergency Food Hamper (one week’s food) for a family of 4 is $120.

  • Canned Beans in Tomato Sauce
