Planning Your Food & Fundraising Event
We are by community, for community, meaning all donations come directly from generous community members like YOU! Here are some steps to help you plan your own food and fundraising event:
1. decide on the type of event you want to host
Virtual? Food drive? Fundraiser?
2. Virtual Food Drive
Online fundraising pages are great ways to support an activity that you are participating in, complement an event or milestone that you are celebrating, or simply to raise funds to help feed Calgary.
When you register your event, our Community Engagement Team will create your personal and unique fundraising page on the online giving platform, Canada Helps. You will receive a link by email so that you can review and approve it. Once you have approved the page, go ahead and start sharing it with your family, friends and coworkers to raise funds online. Online donations of $3 or more will receive a charitable tax receipt through Canada Helps.
3. food drive or fundraiser
Thinking of hosting an on-site food drive this year? Collecting food and funds is a great way to provide essential items for our clients experiencing food insecurity.
We have boxes for your food drive, cash boxes for your fundraiser and resources to help you promote the event with your community. Register your event with us so we know how to support you!
Donation boxes can be picked up at our Annex Location:
5020 12A Street SE
Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
4. register your event
By registering your event we can support you, share your work and inspire others! When you have submitted your form, our Community Engagement Team will contact you within 2 to 4 business days (dependent on the volume of registrations).

Fact Sheet
“I knew I could make a difference by helping the food bank. I talked to my mom about it and did some research. I learned that the food bank can get more food with money than I can buying the food myself. I know families with special dietary needs so you often need to buy stuff. I decided to collect toonies. Every kid has a toonie laying around. I decided it would be cool to try to raise $200, that seemed like a reasonable amount to aim for. The total raised was $397.70.”
