Feeding Kids
Since 2017, the Calgary Food Bank has collaborated with the Breakfast Club of Canada to offer children an inclusive environment where they can enjoy a nutritious breakfast at school. This partnership aims to empower Calgary’s youth by providing them with the fuel they need to reach their academic potential.
Food insecurity among children can lead to challenges focusing, poor grades, nutrient deficiencies, and chronic health issues. By addressing this need, our program positively influences students’ academic performance, social interactions, and overall physical and mental well-being. The partnership ensures that hunger does not hinder to a student’s learning.
What’s included in the Breakfast Club?
Our food adheres to the Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth and Canada’s Food Guide, ensuring that students receive optimal nutrition for their minds and bodies. Some of the items provided include yogurt, milk, cereal, and fruit.
