We revamped the process and have now initiated a more client centric, trauma-informed way to guide clients to supports beyond food. Today we have trained Referral & Resource volunteers who call clients that opt for follow-up.
Joel Perry spent 38 years in the insurance business before exchanging his briefcase for keys to one of our 5-ton trucks. ‘Do what you love, and you won’t work a day in your life’ are words Joel lives by every time he comes to work at the Calgary Food Bank to collect food for fellow Calgarians who are experiencing food insecurity.
We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected annually for a defined term. The Board represents a cross-section of our community, each bringing a specialized skill set to their volunteer role. They shepherd the Calgary Food Bank’s strategy, mission, vision and values.
2020 was a year like no other in recent memory as the Covid-19 Pandemic touched every single person in our community in some way. Despite the many unknowns the pandemic presented in the early part of the year, we were able to continue to support the community because of the generosity of Calgarians.
