What is highlighted in times of disaster – be it fire, flood or pandemic – is that food needs to be part of the response; unfortunately, it is rarely considered. Policy around food does not engage with the established food service charities providing the stop gap. Food banks and food service organizations are experts in the implementation of food safety, public health and social wellbeing. We advocate for change and client security in the long run.
Calgary may be a city of over a million, but the heart of this city remains small town and community focused. When times are tough, Calgarians rally and come together to help their neighbours in need. And this holiday season, individuals, families and businesses came together in a big way to make sure that the holidays were happy for everyone. Whether it’s a tin, a truckload, a monetary donation or an hour of time, Calgarians gave with their hearts.
Happy National Volunteer Week! Volunteers are essential to greet, chat, sort, guide, encourage, engage and much more. From youth to seniors, weekly, daily; volunteers fuel this organization. Thank you for giving your time to help make our community better.
We are entrusted with the spirit of the community, and are grateful for the significant support in food, time and funds to assist us in assisting others. The impact this year has been significant and we simply cannot serve the community without you. The Annual Report profiles the impact of your generosity.
